Your Stur.ley jewellery is made to be worn, loved and lived in. Every piece is handcrafted from recycled sterling silver (or your chosen precious metal), so a little care will help it stay beautiful for years to come.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time. It's completely normal and simply a sign that your jewellery is made from real silver. Regular wear is actually one of the best ways to keep it looking bright, as the natural oils in your skin help slow tarnishing.
If your piece needs a refresh, gently polish it with a silver polishing cloth. For a deeper clean, use warm water, a small amount of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush to remove any build-up. Dry thoroughly before storing.
To keep your jewellery looking its best, remove it before:
- Swimming (especially in chlorinated pools or the ocean)
- Showering
- Exercising
- Cleaning with household chemicals
- Applying perfumes, lotions or hairspray
These can speed up tarnishing or dull the finish over time.
Storage
When you're not wearing your jewellery, store it somewhere cool and dry. A jewellery box, pouch or airtight bag will help reduce exposure to air and moisture, slowing the natural tarnishing process.
Handmade Means Unique
Each Stur.ley piece is hand-carved before it's cast, so no two are ever exactly alike.
Small variations and tool marks are part of what make each piece uniquely yours: they're not imperfections, but a reminder that it was made by hand, not by machine.
